Nature and Fragility of Heart

In the strive of life, so easy is it to contend with others of some opposed pack. Nature and its proceedings show that more or less, we’re all in the same boat. Amongst the wave we are caught between circumstance and advisory, a need for control and the C’est la vie. All that comes is what’s needed. A makeup of things that on their own, we hold not much of an understanding of, if even that.
Yet amongst it all, there is a beauty, and all the more for the heart softened in the yielding of condition and outcome.

Strays

Look to the world around. Pause for just a single moment. See its eloquent design and intentionally. Day by day, week by week, we stroll our way with a comfort that comes from the stillness in what we know so familiarly. There is a home for us here, one given to us by a designer so perfect, a world of grace and love.

Amongst the landscape is the comings and goings of those whose efforts are no different than your own, responding to the very stimuli you know all the same. In rushing of response, you are swept away by the unforeseen, unknowing if you are to survive or be forsaken in its course. What you know to do next formulates from the makeup of your heart. Ever so hardened for some; a passivity, an untrusting.

For the hardened heart, to be above it all is to feel safe, and anything other than such is by necessity. Weary steps and batty eyes turn to and fro when placed beyond comfort, finding it hard to believe—am I going to live? Only you come to find that in the lacking in who you are and what others may have, can be the saving grace to bring you on the path you were too scared to trot.

One Fell Swoop

There is that in all of us – fear. Questioning if where we currently stand will at all remain when what we’ve seen has proven otherwise. Maybe we aren’t alone in the surmounting of dismay, and somewhere high above there is that which watches over us. A companion, sent to our rescue despite their own entrapments in doing so. In the setting sun, in the crossing of pathways, we are made anew; maybe in the nights to come, the next day is one to welcome.

Just because you set sail does not mean you are without your dock. On the way impressions are carried, bringing such to the wonders normalized as the journey persists. Strange to some, sure, but stay true to you. The weary bunch of sojourners you find yourself can bring forth what you so preciously guarded. One leap at a time and before you know it you have your pile of fish. A feast of your own creation. One to be shared all the same.

Flow

It’s hard to cast away what you grew accustomed. The change of course can only be made certain by the distant howls that bring you back to the path you previously crossed. The decision is instinct, as grumblings churn quick and the peace that once was, no longer is. A chance turns to unwelcome change, and that is to be bore in the overcast of gloom and clashing waves.

What remains is all overhead, so you set off to find what you grew to love. As the unforeseen now has become an experience like no other, and what you have come to know is more than you could have imagined. You can’t make sense of it, nothing can really. Transformed by it all, it is now your greatest gift, and something to be fought for, as you’re not willing to let it go. Moving adrift to the landscape that grows so quickly around you, longing to find what found you.

Prance by prance and steps one at a time, can we ever really re-capture what and who we came to be? As for the heart transformed, all it really takes is the effort and a leap of faith. Entirely we might not escape that person we left behind, but sometimes there is not much more thought than just to go. It is in that sprint you can be reminded of the futility of this life and its misgivings, fortunate are we when it is no longer something that must be faced alone.

To The Believer

“…And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”

Ezekiel 36:26
